UNWOMEN

Agenda Item:  Elimanating the unfair discrimination and exclusion against women in conflict zones

The United Nations entity dedicated to the empowerment of women and the achievement of gender equality, UN Women, plays a crucial role in addressing the unique challenges faced by women worldwide. Despite ongoing international efforts, women’s everyday lives, independence, and opportunities for development continue to be deeply affected by persistent discrimination and exclusion conditions that become even more severe in regions experiencing armed conflict. In many war torn areas, women encounter systematic limitations on their freedom, reduced access to education and healthcare, heightened risks of violence, and barriers to participating in political or peacebuilding processes. In this context, delegates at SONKALMUN’26 are expected to work collaboratively, drawing on international frameworks, human rights principles, and innovative policy approaches, to devise effective strategies aimed at ending the unjust exclusion and discrimination faced by women in conflict zones. Their efforts should focus on creating sustainable mechanisms for protection, ensuring equal participation in decision making, and promoting long term empowerment so that women can reclaim control over their lives and actively contribute to the rebuilding of their communities.
